UVA Wise is committed to remaining vigilant as we do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With this in mind, every week the College administers COVID-19 prevalence testing on 7.5 percent of students and employees who come to campus to live, learn, teach, collaborate, and participate in events. This means that approximately 120 participants are chosen randomly each week and notified via their UVA Wise email. The results of this prevalence testing, which are shown below, help the College get a better feel for how the campus is doing as it works to prevent the spread of the virus.
The information within this dashboard is updated weekly on Mondays and as new positive COVID-19 cases are reported. It pulls from various sources, including prevalence testing as well as documented positive reports, to capture the status of COVID-19 on the UVA Wise campus. Our goal with the dashboard is to be as transparent as possible.

Prior to their return to campus for the Fall 2020 semester, UVA Wise students were tested with viral PCR COVID-19 test kits from Let’s Get Checked in order to protect both the health of the campus community as well as the safety of the communities surrounding campus. That testing resulted in four positive cases, several of which did not come to campus until their isolation was completed, and 1,106 negative tests for an infection rate of 0.36%.
