Day of Service participants will participate in one project on March 25. Please read through all of the projects before completing the registration form. Participants must select a first, second, and third choice project. Volunteers will receive a confirmation email with more details about the project they chose closer to Day of Service. Registration requirements are noted under project descriptions. T-shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event, with priority given to individuals who register in advance.
Campus Beautification: Help us welcome spring by refreshing the landscaping around the Student Center circle through mulching and weeding. Athletics teams will spruce up their own stadiums and fields, and we may also lend a hand in other areas of campus as needs arise.
Pet Blankets: Help us spread a little comfort by making fleece pet blankets for local clinics and shelters. This project is beginner-friendly, requires no sewing, and no prior experience is needed. This hands-on project will take place on campus.
Campus Shoebox Campaign: Join the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) as they lead volunteers in creating a variety of items for the fall Campus Shoebox Campaign. This initiative supports Operation Christmas Child and helps bring joy and essential items to children around the world. This hands-on project will take place on campus.
The Town of Wise: Join us in giving back to our local community by helping beautify the Big Glades and Gateway Gardens in Wise. This service project will take place off campus.
Lonesome Pine Library: Spend time supporting the library staff with a variety of projects both inside and outside the library, in Wise. This service opportunity will take place off campus.
Zion Family Ministries Warehouse: Lend a hand to Zion Family Ministries by assisting with sorting and organization projects at their indoor warehouse. Their work helps provide essential necessities to individuals and families in our local community. This service opportunity will take place off campus.
Lunchbox276: Help unbox food, stock shelves, prep the assembly line, and pack weekly bags for students. The Lunchbox276 program provides weekend food bags to children ranging from Pre-K students as young as three through high school seniors. This service project will take place off campus
Camp Bethel: Help prepare outdoor trails by cutting/removing brush and clearing pathways. Camp Bethel is located in Wise and hosts young people from ages 5-19 for their summer camp experience. This service project will take place off campus
Darden EDU Project: Participants will work to organize educational materials, creating a resource hub where education students, intern teachers, and faculty can easily access materials to assist with learning. Meet in Darden Lobby and work with Darden 132 to establish an engaging and user-friendly instructional resource repository. This project takes place on campus and is limited to EDU students only, with preference given to KDP members.
