Faculty Retirement
Full-time faculty, as well as University Staff Managerial & Professional employees and University Staff Executive employees, must participate in either the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) or the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Careful consideration should be given to this decision, as once a retirement program is elected, the decision is irreversible.
Classified & University Staff Retirement
All full-time classified employees, as well as University Staff Operational & Administrative employees must participate in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Additionally, University Staff Managerial & Professional employees and University Staff Executive employees must choose to participate in either VRS or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). Careful consideration should be given to this decision, as once a retirement program is elected, the decision is irreversible.
