Advancement Associate
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise seeks applications for a Program Support Technician with working title of Advancement Associate in the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. Duties include working with the Vice Chancellor for Advancement to manage the stewardship process which includes essential creative writing of drafts of acknowledgement letters and other important donor correspondence. Reporting to the Director of Gift Accounting, responsibilities include preparation of daily deposit of gifts to the College and UVA Wise Foundation, performing Oracle journal entries, daily review of receipt data to ensure accuracy, processing of pledge reminders and providing data entry responsibilities, as well as other key duties.

Head Coach, Track & Field
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Head Track & Field Coach. This is a new program that will compete in both the indoor and outdoor seasons beginning with the 2023-2024 academic year. UVA Wise is a 4 year liberal arts college located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, and is a division of the University of Virginia. The College is a Division II school, competing in the South Atlantic Conference. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Construct a strategic recruiting plan that targets student athletes who are academically eligible and athletically competitive.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a small or large staff team.
  • Define team and player goals and implement plans to achieve them.
  • Monitor expenses, analyze cost projections and trends, identify resource allocation, and maintain a balanced and accurate budget.
  • Maintain detailed and current knowledge on all NCAA, SAC, College, and University rules and regulations related to the sports program, ensuring all those associated with the program remain compliant.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Head Athletic Trainer
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Head Athletic Trainer. UVA Wise is a four year liberal arts college located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, and is a division of the University of Virginia. The College is a NCAA Division II school, competing in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Duties of the position include:

  • Supervise a small or large staff team and provide athletic training support for intercollegiate athletics. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, coaching and managing performance.
  • Provide athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment for training regimens, treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals. Coordinate team physicals and activities of team physician.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff in developing conditioning, weight training and nutrition programs for athletes. Advise coaching staff as to daily medical status of injured players. Collaborate with physicians and other medical personnel on referrals and the return of injured student athletes to full participation status.
  • Maintain established safety standards.
  • Develop and approve effective policies and procedures for the unit to ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Determine personnel needs for appropriate coverage all sports.
  • Monitor expenses, analyze cost projections and trends, identify resource allocation, and maintain a balanced budget.

Assistant Volleyball Coach

Ecosystem & Innovation Manager
Opportunity Southwest Virginia with leadership from the University of Virginia-Wise is laser focused on building a culture of entrepreneurship in Southwest Virginia! We are seeking an Ecosystem & Innovation Manager to lead a regional innovation ecosystem building program, cultivating strategic partnerships through community outreach activities and raising awareness of entrepreneurial activities throughout Southwest Virginia. As a part of Opportunity SWVA, the Ecosystem & Innovation Manager fosters critical relationships to create and sustain a healthy, effective and robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. Acting as a coordinating hub and catalyst for the region’s entrepreneurial resources, Opportunity SWVA, through the work of the Ecosystem & Innovation Manager will deliver value-added, stage specific educational programs to entrepreneurs and scalable early-stage companies across Southwest Virginia. Administrative Assistant
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Financial Aid Office. This position will be the first point of contact for visitors in the Office of Financial Aid. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors; overseeing the student award letter process; reconciling the office, wage and scholarship budgets; managing the purchasing responsibilities for the office; and maintaining databases for the office. 

Data Analyst
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (located in Wise, Virginia), seeks a full time Data Analyst to support the work of the Institutional Research and Academic Affairs divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of statistical tools to interpret large data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
  • Preparation of reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Analysis of the design of technical systems and business models.
  • Oversight of data collection that assists the organization to make better data-informed decisions. 
  • Responsibility for reporting outputs and data visualization (dashboards).
  • Utilization of data mining from primary and secondary sources, and reorganizing of data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
  • Oversight of achievement of financial objectives for the Academic Affairs budget through analysis of budgetary trends and variances. Assist in the development of budgetary efficiencies and long-term financial goals.

Housekeeper
Housekeepers perform basic indoor and outdoor housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, and removing trash. They often work in teams to provide neat, safe environments for residents, staff, students, faculty, and guests in assigned areas. They act in accordance with University and division standards and procedures. Work is assigned at the task level and is routinely monitored.

Asst. Coach, Women's Basketball
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Asst. Coach, Women's Basketball. Located in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, UVA Wise is a NCAA Division II school and a member of the South Athletic Conference. This position will work with the Head Women's Basketball Coach to conceptualize and develop practice and game day plans; study opposing teams to identify weaknesses and avenues for success; explain and enforce rules and regulations to protect student athletes, and ensure that policies and procedures are followed; monitor the conditioning and training of student athletes; support the academic requirements of student athletes; assist with coordinating and performing various administrative tasks; and other duties as assigned.

Peer Education Support Manager
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Peer Education Support Manager in the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI). This position is funded by a grant through the Virginia Department of Health, which is working to establish a cohort of college/university campus peer educator offices throughout the state to support the promotion of sexual and domestic violence prevention efforts and norm change on the campus community. These campuses will serve as regional hubs for assisting other local colleges/universities address campus needs in primary prevention education in future years. This position is funded for one year with a four year renewal.

Electrician
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Electrician in the Facilities Department. This position will support the department’s goal of providing consistent, cost effective, reliable maintenance and service to College facilities. The position will be responsible for responding to campus projects and maintenance work orders on a daily basis, as well as repairing, installing, connecting, an maintaining electrical systems and equipment in buildings, including emergency backup systems and fire alarms.  Most work is performed with little direct supervision and the successful applicant must be able to operate with advanced skill and independence. The position will provide both labor and technical knowledge for installation and maintenance of building components and mechanical systems while providing a safe environment.

Chief of Staff
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Chief of Staff to the Chancellor in the Office of the Chancellor. The Chief of Staff to the Chancellor reports directly to the Chancellor and has an indirect relationship with the University of Virginia's President's office and the Chancellor's Senior Leadership Team. This position prepares and develops appropriate strategic policy and reviews. The successful candidate will be able to think and plan strategically, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate strong personal and professional integrity, collaborate, and provide good judgment and attention to detail. Responsibilities include but are not limited to serving as Clerk to the College Board; preparing materials for the UVA Board of Visitors meetings; research and preparing information for presentations and remarks; coordination of reporting of Strategic Plan with the Senior Leadership Team; preparation of Senior Leadership  notes and all high-level correspondence for the Chancellor's Office. In addition, this position will also be responsible for the final review and decision of the Chancellor's calendar, with resolution of conflicts and be a member of the Chancellor's Committees and other duties as assigned.

Director of the Library
The Director of the Library is a 12-month administrative position with responsibility for the organization, administration, operation, and evaluation of college library services, collections, physical facilities, personnel, and budget. Reporting to the Provost, the Director guides the Library in key initiatives: leading ongoing strategic planning; fostering collaboration on and beyond the campuses; engaging the Library in the academic and intellectual life of the university; advancing the use of innovative technology and sound data management practices in teaching and research; and working externally to help support and represent the Library locally, regionally, and nationally.

Thurston H. Strunk Endowed Chair in Nursing
The Department of Nursing invites applications for the Thurston H. Strunk Endowed Chair in Nursing. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in nursing and an established record of scholarship and experience in nursing education. The College seeks an experienced educator with a record of scholarship appropriate for a tenured appointment. The Professorship offers a reduced teaching load, discretionary research funds, and competitive salary and benefits.

The position is a full-time, 9-month commitment. Duties include creating and teaching undergraduate courses in nursing, as well as the potential to contribute to the development of a graduate program in nursing and teach in that program if approved. Duties also include serving the department and college on various committees; advising students; and assisting the department chair with assessment and other duties as needed.

Instructor in Biology (Anatomy/Physiology)
The Natural Science Department invites applications for an Instructor position (non-tenure track) in Anatomy/Physiology. The position is a full-time, 9-month commitment at the Instructor level and with the potential for summer teaching. Duties include teaching a two-semester sequence of anatomy/physiology lecture and lab for nursing students; serving the department and college on various committees; advising and mentoring students, particularly in pre-health areas; and assisting the department chair with assessment and other duties as needed.  Time permitting, the successful candidate might also assist with the introductory lecture/lab sequence and/or develop upper-level courses in the applicant’s field of expertise in support of pre-health majors.

Instructor in French
UVA Wise seeks candidates for a non-tenure track faculty position in French.  If possible, we would like to fill by January 2022. However, candidates who are only available in August 2022 should still apply, as our first priority will be the selection of an individual who best aligns with our institutional mission and departmental needs. Preference will be given to candidates who articulate a clear understanding of UVA Wise’s public liberal arts mission and who express specific interest and have experience in the mentoring of students.

As a member of the Department of Language and Literature, the full-time Instructor in French will teach courses at all levels of the undergraduate program. The successful candidate will teach a 4-4 load, primarily at the elementary and intermediate levels in courses that serve the College's Liberal Arts core requirement. This is a 9-month position with the possibility of annual renewal and the opportunity to teach occasional summer courses as well.

Admissions Counselor
The Office of Admissions at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise) is currently accepting applications for an Admissions Counselor. This position is especially focused on recruiting, admitting, and enrolling first-year students in an assigned territory. This position will require frequent interaction with current and potential students and families, and high school counselors. This position will require occasional night and weekend hours.

Learning Specialist for the Nursing Department
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Academic Support Specialist in its Department of Nursing. This position will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating activities related to student success. The Academic Learning Specialist will collaborate with faculty, the Department Chair, and Academic Support Services staff.

The Housekeeping and/or Apparel Worker I role provides career tracks for housekeepers, laundry and dry cleaner workers, and tailors performing entry level to advance level services in the areas of housekeeping, laundry,tailoring, and dry cleaning

TEMP Administrative Assistant
The Administrative and Office Specialist I role provides career tracks for operational and administrative support specialists such as the office support aides or postal aides providing entry-level support by performing well-defined office duties of a routine and repetitive nature under close supervision.
