Academic Data Strategy Analyst
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (located in Wise, Virginia), seeks a full time Academic Data Strategy Analyst to support the work of the Institutional Research and Academic Affairs divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of statistical tools to interpret large data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
  • Preparation of reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Oversight of data collection that assists the organization to make better data-informed decisions. 
  • Responsibility for reporting outputs and data visualization (dashboards).
  • Utilization of data mining from primary and secondary sources, and reorganizing of data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
  • Oversight of achievement of financial objectives for the Academic Affairs budget through analysis of budgetary trends and variances. Assist in the development of budgetary efficiencies and long-term financial goals.

 

Assistant/Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education
The Education Department at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise) in Wise, Virginia, invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education, starting Fall Semester 2023. This position supports the requirements needed in the department for students seeking a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) endorsement in Early Childhood Education.

Childcare Center Program Director
The University of Virginia's College at Wise, located in the beautiful mountains of southwestern Virginia and a division of the University of Virginia, invites applications for a Childcare Center Program Director. This position is responsible for the daily operations and overall management of the UVA Wise childcare center, as well as the planning and directing of care services for the participants in the program with the participation of the staff.

Instructional Designer
The University of Virginia's College at Wise, a four-year liberal arts college located in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, invites applications for an Instructional Designer. UVA Wise is a 1-to-1 iPad institution recognized in 2021 as an Apple Distinguished School for its use of technology to create an innovative and enhanced learning environment. The campus is equipped with a mix of Apple and PC based instructional technology.

This position will provide faculty with course design support and coaching in creating effective and engaging learning environments informed by desired learning outcomes and a deep understanding of learning methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, Bloom's Learning Taxonomy, etc.); design, develop, and share learning content using a wide array of learning technologies in the development of course materials; collaborate, assist, develop, and participate in the facilitation of professional development workshops and symposia, particularly with regard to course design, online teaching, training materials, and technology-enhanced instruction; and other duties as assigned.

Assistant Director of Academic Success
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Assistant Director of Academic Success. This position will report directly to the Director of Academic Success.  The Assistant Director will participate in creating and ensuring the effective operation of a new Academic Success Center as a major expansion of Student Support Services on campus.  The Assistant Director will be a student-facing member of the Academic Success Center and will work directly with students, faculty, and staff to coordinate student support efforts that improve student retention and graduation rates.   

Director of Academic Success
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Director of Academic Success. This position will report directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.  The Director will manage the creation of a new Academic Success Center as a major expansion of Student Support Services on campus.  The Director will be a student-facing member of the Academic Success Center and will coordinate the efforts of a diverse team of academic intervention specialists.    

Housekeeper
Housekeepers perform basic indoor and outdoor housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, and removing trash. They often work in teams to provide neat, safe environments for residents, staff, students, faculty, and guests in assigned areas. They act in accordance with University and division standards and procedures. Work is assigned at the task level and is routinely monitored.

Coordinator of Student Engagement
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a full-time, 12-month exempt Coordinator of Student Engagement (CSE). The CSE reports to the Director of Student Engagement and is a member of the College’s Division of Student Affairs. The CSE will work collaboratively across campus units to support new students in a successful transition to UVA Wise through new student orientations, academic advising and additional programming initiatives.

Responsibilities & expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with coordination and implementation of a comprehensive new student orientation program, including online signups, online information modules, and in-person events.
  • Develop and deliver campus programming initiatives focused on supporting new students, with an emphasis on the first-year experience.
  • Support hiring and training of student orientation leaders and expedition (extended orientation) leaders.
  • Assist with new student advising process.
  • Collaborate within Student Affairs and across campus units on student success initiatives.

Director of Career Discovery and Planning
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Director of Career Discovery and Planning. As part of the Office of Administration, Government Relations, and Strategic Initiatives, the director of Career Discovery and Planning provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a comprehensive career planning program with a mission to support UVA Wise students and alumni in making informed decisions about undergraduate and post-graduate plans. This position collaborates actively and proactively with Academic Affairs, Economic Development, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Alumni Engagement, and Marketing and Communications.

Healthy Appalachia Institute Program Director
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Program Director, Healthy Appalachia Institute (HAI).  This position will be responsible for advancing the mission of HAI to improve the health, education, environment, and prosperity for residents of central Appalachia.  In doing so, the Program Director will engage communities and organizations and address the social, economic and scientific issues that exist at the interface of health and Appalachian culture.  This position requires a master's degree in Public Health (MPH or MSPH), experience in developing, managing and coordinating public health or health-related programs, and experience working with diverse constituencies.  The Program Director must coordinate multiple projects and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including UVA Wise faculty, staff and students as well as colleagues from the University of Virginia and regional, state and federal partners.

Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia and a division of the University of Virginia, UVA Wise competes as a member of the South Atlantic Conference. This position will report directly to the Director of Athletics. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish schedules for individual weight rooms and provide oversight for weight room facilities.
  • Formulate, implement, and monitor policies and procedures.
  • Monitor expenses, analyze cost projections and trends, identify resource allocation, and maintain a balanced budget.
  • Maintain detailed and current knowledge on all NCAA, SAC, College, and University rules and regulations related to field and ensure all those under their scope of responsibility are remaining compliant.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Admissions Counselor
The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Admissions Counselor.  Responsibilities include student recruitment; attending college recruitment fairs; visits to high schools; initial review of student admissions applications; communication with schools, students, and parents; and assistance in the planning and implementation of recruitment and other admissions activities and special projects.  Extensive overnight travel throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and other states as assigned is required, as well as some evening and weekend work.

    Administrative Assistant
    The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Financial Aid Office. This position will be the first point of contact for visitors in the Office of Financial Aid. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors; overseeing the student award letter process; reconciling the office, wage and scholarship budgets; managing the purchasing responsibilities for the office; and maintaining databases for the office.

    Instructor in Biology (Anatomy/Physiology)
    The Natural Science Department invites applications for an Instructor position (non-tenure track) in Anatomy/Physiology. The position is a full-time, 9-month commitment at the Instructor level and with the potential for summer teaching. Duties include teaching a two-semester sequence of anatomy/physiology lecture and lab for nursing students; serving the department and college on various committees; advising and mentoring students, particularly in pre-health areas; and assisting the department chair with assessment and other duties as needed.  Time permitting, the successful candidate might also assist with the introductory lecture/lab sequence and/or develop upper-level courses in the applicant’s field of expertise in support of pre-health majors.

    Learning Specialist for the Nursing Department
    The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Academic Support Specialist in its Department of Nursing. This position will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating activities related to student success. The Academic Learning Specialist will collaborate with faculty, the Department Chair, and Academic Support Services staff.
