UVA Wise Partners with T-Mobile to Launch Next Phase of innovate2elevate iPad Initiative

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise) is proud to announce the next transformative step in its innovate2elevate iPad initiative, thanks to a new partnership with T-Mobile. Beginning this fall, every full-time undergraduate student at UVA Wise will receive a cellular-connected iPad, complete with a smart keyboard and Apple pencil, ensuring students have 24/7 access to learning, collaboration and creativity wherever they go.
Through this collaboration with T-Mobile, each iPad will include built-in cellular connectivity on the nation’s largest 5G network. This move eliminates barriers to access and ensures that students can connect to the digital tools and academic resources they need both on campus and beyond.
Since launching the innovate2elevate program in 2019, UVA Wise has continued to champion the integration of cutting-edge digital tools into our academic environment. Our commitment is driven by a vision to enhance educational outcomes and fundamentally transform how our students engage with the world around them.
“This advancement in our innovate2elevate initiative reflects our deep commitment to student success, digital access and innovation in education,” said Chancellor Donna P. Henry. “By partnering with T-Mobile to remove connectivity barriers, we are investing in our students’ ability to thrive in and out of the classroom.”
As part of this transition, students will exchange their current iPads for the new T-Mobile–connected iPad devices and be more prepared for the opportunities of a rapidly changing world, which is a key deliverable of Your College for a Lifetime, the College’s current strategic plan.
“This is more than an equipment swap, it’s about access and preparing our students for success,” added Henry. “We’re thrilled to bring this level of technology and connectivity to our students.”
UVA Wise made the announcement at their 2025 Convocation with students.
