The Orientation 3-step process:

The Orientation process includes these three steps with notifications sent to the UVA Wise email with details as each is completed (see Spring 2023 overview linked @ bottom of page):

  • STEP 1 - Information Modules (online, self-paced)
All students complete the Wise Orientation Welcome (WOW) module using the link provided in their UVA Wise email.  Additionally, students, depending on major, will complete a Math Assessment.
  • STEP 2 - Advising & Registration (zoom, by appt.)
After completion of step 1 & on the date the session scheduler opens in Moodle, students will receive instructions for scheduling a 1x1 advising appointment via zoom with their faculty advisor.  Be sure to set a reminder for the meeting so you can be present & engaged.  During this appointment, you will discuss your program of study, liberal arts core, and register for classes.  (Zoom: no software is required; just use provided link).  Please remember that the advising appointment is only for students; parents/family are encouraged to assist in their student's review of information in advance to help students with preparing for their appointment.
  • STEP 3 - @ Wise Day (IN-PERSON)
Students who have completed steps 1 & 2 will participate in this in-person, on-campus day to learn more about UVA Wise along with fellow new students, meet campus resources and your advisor to ask questions and learn more about being a Highland Cavalier! Check-in will begin at 8:30 am and the event concludes midday, which gives you time to visit campus offices during regular business hours to take care of remaining business items (a full schedule with Step 3 info is provided via email after Step 2 is completed).  Up to 2 parents/guests that were included in the Orientation Sign-up may also attend this event.
