Orientation FAQs

Is Orientation required?
Yes. All new students are expected to complete the Orientation process. However, orientation is optional for family/guests.

Is there a fee?
There is no fee for Orientation. 

How long is Orientation?
Spring Orientation is approximately two hours with check-in from 8:30-9 am. Students and registered guests will receive additional details before their session, including any changes due to inclement weather. A final schedule will be provided at check-in.

Can I bring guests?
Students may register up to two guests to accompany them at their Orientation session. If you need to add or update guest information after signing up for Orientation, please email orientation@uvawise.edu.

How do I get started with the Orientation process?
Refer to the Pre-Orientation To-Do List that is available in the menu link.

When do I sign up for Orientation?
After students complete the Cav Module (see the Pre-Orientation Checklist), students receive an invitation to signup for Orientation. 

What should I wear?
Dress is casual. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. There will be a lot of walking! Check the weather in case you need an umbrella or jacket.

What should I bring?
No supplies needed! All materials will be provided, including a bag, schedule and nametag for students and their registered guests. Students and guests attending Orientation may also claim a free meal ticket to enjoy lunch in the main dining hall at the conclusion of Orientation.
