  • Meal plan card
  • Debit card (for vending machines, laundry, bookstore, and cafeteria)

How do I get a CAVS card?

Residential Freshmen

  • Upload your own photo: Cards with uploaded photo and payment of the $5 new card fee at Campus Mail Services will be available at Move-In if photo is uploaded within 3 business days of your move-in appointment.
  • Pick up your card at Campus Mail Services: Visit Campus Mail Services on the 4th floor of the Slemp Student Center weekdays 8a-5p, pay the $5 new card fee, and receive your card.
  • Cards will not be available prior to Move-In.

Residential Transfers

  • Upload your own photo: Cards with uploaded photo and payment of the $5 new card fee at Campus Mail Services will be available at Move-In if photo is uploaded within 3 business days of your move-in appointment.
  • Pick up your card at Campus Mail Services: Visit Campus Mail Services on the 4th floor of the Slemp Student Center weekdays 8a-5p, pay the $5 new card fee, and receive your card.
  • Cards will not be available prior to Move-In.

Commuter Students

  • Upload your own photo: Cards with uploaded photo and payment of the $5 new card fee at Campus Mail Services will be available at Move-In if photo is uploaded within 3 business days of your move-in appointment.
  • Pick up your card at Campus Mail Services: Visit Campus Mail Services on the 4th floor of the Slemp Student Center weekdays 8a-5p, pay the $5 new card fee, and receive your card.
  • Cards will be available at the start of the semester.

Remote Instruction Students

  • Upload your own photo: Then, contact Campus Mail Services at mail.idservices@uvawise.edu to make arrangements to receive your Cavs Card.
  • Cards will be not be available prior to Move-In and/or the start of the semester.

How do I upload my photo?

Students & employees have the option to upload a photo for their id. All uploaded photos must follow these guidelines:

  • Color photo with white/off-white background, take within last 6 months
  • Clear image of your face centered in photo (no social media filters)
  • No sunglasses; eyeglasses may be worn, but ensure no flash
  • No caps/hats, headbands, masks, etc.

Using a computer to upload a photo:

  • Visit the CAVS card GET Portal
  • Login using your UVA Wise ID (email without the “@uvawise.edu”) and password
  • In Quick Links, choose UPLOAD ID PHOTO. If you have a current photo, it will be visible.
  • Select BROWSE to select from your image files or select UPLOAD to use your web cam to take a photo for upload.
  • After submitting your chosen photo, it will be reviewed by UVA Wise and you will receive a notification email.

Using the mobile app to upload a photo:

  • Download the GET Mobile App
  • Login using your UVA Wise ID (email without the “@uvawise.edu”) and password
  • In SETTINGS, choose UPLOAD PHOTO. If you have a current photo, it will be visible.
  • Select CHOOSE PHOTO to either take a photo or upload one from your photo library.
  • After submitting your chosen photo, it will be reviewed by UVA Wise and you will receive a notification email.

Please protect your card as you would your driver’s license or credit card. A $15.00 fee will be charged for replacement of this card if it is lost or damaged. Lending of this card or failure to present it upon request by a College official is a violation of College policy. The fraudulent possession of another person’s card may result in the confiscation of the card and/or College disciplinary action.

 

Changes to the CAVS card terms and conditions will apply to all cards and supersede those in effect at the time the card was issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add funds?

Log in to the CAVScard GET Portal to add funds to Declining Balance or Dining Dollars. You will need to know your card ID number to log in and add funds. There is a $2 processing fee for each deposit made online.

How do I find my card ID number?

Your ID number appears in the format 000020626201 under your name on your card.

Your ID is found by removing the four initial zeros and the last two digits.

What is the difference between Declining Balance and Dining Dollars?

  • Declining Balance: Offers the most flexibility. Funds in this account may be used anywhere the CAVScard is accepted: all food service locations (including concession stands), bookstore, laundry, vending, and the campus post office.
  • Dining Dollars: Funds in this account can be used at all food service locations, including concession stands. The benefit of this account is receiving promotions for dining from Chartwells, our dining services provider.

How do I report a lost or stolen card?

Log in to the CAVScard GET Portal to report the card missing. This will immediately disable the card, rendering it useless for campus dining and all campus declining balance usage (bookstore, laundry, etc.). A $15 fee will be charged for a card replacement if it is lost or damaged. Lending the card or failure to present it upon request by a College official is a violation of College policy. The fraudulent possession of another person’s card may result in the confiscation of the card and/or College disciplinary action.

Are there any fees for using the CAVScard?

The only fees involved with the CAVScard are in making a deposit and obtaining a refund. There is a $2 processing fee for each deposit made online, in person, by mail or over the phone. There is also a $10 processing fee for account refunds.

There is no fee for cash depositing funds via the Value Port terminal on the 4th Floor of the Student Center.

How can I get a refund of my account balance?

Email Amanda Hughes (agh4rg@uvawise.edu) with your name, ID number, and current address and your reason for requesting a refund (recent graduation, termination of enrollment, etc.). There is a $10 processing fee for all refunds. 

Refunds can only be processed for account with a balance of $20 or more. You have 60 days to request a refund after leaving UVA Wise.

What else should I know?

  • All meal plans are purchased in the Cashier’s Office and must be paid for at time of sale.
  • There is a $15 charge for your CAVScard or a replacement card.
  • Cards are made at Campus Mail Services on the 4th floor of the Slemp Student Center.
  • Cards must not be defaced in any way.
  • Cards expire at graduation or on a student’s withdrawal from the College.
