Summer Housing portal will be open Wednesday, April 22, 2026 - Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Summer Housing for Summer Session I will be in McCraray Hall. Summer Housing for Summer Session II will be in Still Hall. 

Sunday, May 24, 2026
Summer I move-in from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026 check out on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Staying between summer sessions is not an option. All Summer I students move out. 

Saturday, June 27, 2026 - July 4, 2026
ALL RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED

Summer II move-in from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, check out on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Staying between summer sessions is not an option. All Summer II students move out.

Students living in Cavalier Trails will check in at Culbertson Hall.
Students living in Highland Hills will check in at Henson Hall.

Housing Application opens for Spring 2027
The Spring 2027 Housing Application opens for students new to Residence Life who did not stay on campus during the Fall 2026 semester. The portal remains open from Monday, October 12, 2026, - Tuesday, January 12, 2027.

Monday, November 9, 2026
Requests to Stay Over Thanksgiving Break must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026.
*$26.00 fee per night for approved students, to stay over Thanksgiving Break, charges will be applied to the student account in the Cashier’s Office. Official College breaks where Residence Halls close are not included in Fall 2026 Housing fees.

Notification to Residents/Results for Request to Stay Over Break
Notification to residents who submitted a request to stay over Thanksgiving Break will be notified. If approved for stay, the $26.00 per night fee will be placed on the student’s account at this time.

Thanksgiving Break
Residence Halls Closed - All residents are required to vacate their housing assignment. Building access is turned off at this time. Only those who are approved to stay on campus are allowed in Residence Halls.

Health & Safety Inspections will occur during closing procedures.

Residence halls re-open at 9 a.m. from Thanksgiving Break

Winter Break
Residence Halls Closed

Students returning for Spring 2027 housing must check out 24 hours after their last exam. Access to all Residence Halls is electronically turned off during Winter Break (including keyless entry).

Students not returning for Spring 2026 Housing must check out by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2026, by visiting the Residence Life Office.

Smith Dining Commons and all retail operations are closed from Saturday, December 12, 2026 - Saturday, January 9, 2027. The College is officially closed from Monday, December 21 - Sunday, January 3, 2027.

Spring 2027

Sunday, January 10, 2027
Residence Halls re-open for the Spring 2027 semester at 9 a.m. for returning students who lived on campus for the Fall 2026 semester. Cavs Card access will be restored at 9 a.m.

Monday, January 11, 2027
Move-in for New Spring 2027 students will be from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Students will pick up their key and check-in in the Residence Life Office (1st floor of Cantrell Hall).

Friday, February 19, 2027
Requests to stay over Spring Break must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2027.

Housing Application opens for current/returning UVA Wise Students

• There is no fee to apply for housing.
• Housing assignments are made on the order of housing application date/time. The earlier students register, the better room selection they will have.
• Returning students can select housing in Asbury, Culbertson, Henson, Martha Randolph & Thompson Halls. Any rooms not claimed by Friday, April 2, 2027, will be turned over to Incoming students for Fall 2027/Spring 2028 housing.
• A $100.00 cancellation fee will be charged anytime housing is canceled prior to August 1st, returning student move-in is Sunday, August 15, 2027.

Housing Application opens for incoming UVA Wise Students

There is no fee to apply for Housing.
Housing assignments are made in the order of housing application date/time. The earlier students register, the better room selection they will have.
Incoming students can select housing for McCraray & Still Halls, and any other available rooms not claimed by upperclassmen at this time.
-A $100.00 cancellation fee will be charged anytime housing is canceled prior to August 1st, new student move in day is Friday, August 13, 2027. See the freshman residency requirement for all incoming students.

Housing Application opens for summer housing

Summer Housing portal will be open Wednesday, April 21, 2027 - Friday, May 21, 2027.
The building location for Summer I and Summer II housing will be announced in Spring 2027.

Saturday, May 8, 2027
End of Semester Closing
All residence halls will close at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2027, for the semester. Students are required to check out 24 hours after their last exam and complete the check-out process by visiting a check-out table in the lobby of McCraray, Culbertson, Still, or Henson. Check out times are available from 9 a.m .- 8 p.m. Monday - Friday and 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. on Saturday
Rooms must be restored to their original move-in condition and receive a thorough inspection by the resident and staff member. Failure to check out properly will result in an improper check-out fee, and any damages resulting from an improper check-out cannot be appealed.

Summer 2027

Saturday, May 8 - Saturday, May 22, 2027
ALL HOUSING/RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES will be completely closed due to various construction projects, spraying of halls, disinfecting buildings, mattress and furniture
replacement, building upgrades, room inventories, and other necessities.

Sunday, May 23, 2027
Summer I move in from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, and check out on Friday, June 25, 2027. Staying between sessions is not an option. All Summer I students move out.

Saturday, June 26, 2027 - Saturday, July 3, 2027
ALL RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED
