More than 30 clubs and organizations at UVA Wise offer opportunities for getting involved on campus, building friendships, and developing leadership and teamwork skills.

Attend Club and Organization Presidents and Advisors Meetings

These mandatory meetings are held at the start of each academic year and provide clubs and organization presidents and advisors the opportunity to register with the Office of Student Engagement, receive updates on campus policies and procedures, as well as Student Government Association news and updates.

Attend the Student Leadership Awards Banquet

Held each spring, the annual Student Leadership Awards Banquet honors the contributions of student leaders and advisors from clubs and organizations, Expedition, Residence Life, Student Government Association, Student Conduct Board, Honor Court, Greek Life, the C. Bascom Slemp Student Center, Student Activities, Intramurals and Outdoor Recreation.

Attend the Student Leadership Retreat

Sponsored by the Office of Student Life and the Student Government Association, the weekend retreat is held each September and participants enjoy a variety of sessions and workshops focusing on leadership skills development. Students are nominated by club and organization advisors and asked to submit a completed nomination form for consideration. Priority is given to first-time attendees, freshmen, and sophomores.

Serve as a Student Member of the UVA Wise Board 

One representative from the UVA Wise student body serves in a non-voting capacity as a member of the UVA Wise Board. This unique leadership opportunity is for a one-year term. Nominations are solicited from the campus community each spring. A recommendation committee reviews cover letters and resumes and forwards deserving candidate information to the Executive Committee of the UVA Wise Board for final selection.
