The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise) announced today that Ralph Reid will join the College as its Vice Chancellor for Human Resources in January following a national search.
Reid has more than a decade of experience in human resources, most recently serving as executive director of strategic planning and project execution at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he also recently served as director of human resources operations and employee compliance.
“I am excited to come to UVA Wise because it is a place where mission, people and community are a priority,” Reid says. “The College’s focus on student success and its role in the region match my own belief that when you invest in people, everything else gets better.”
Reid says he is most excited about getting to know the campus and community upon arrival.
“I plan to spend time with faculty, staff, students and local partners,” says Reid. “From there, my goal is to build on the strengths that already exist, strengthen engagement, and support growth so that UVA Wise continues to be a place where people are proud to work and serve.”
In addition to his experience, Reid has earned several professional certifications including Certified Public Manager and Certified Supervisory Manager credentials. He has presented about leadership and driving organizational effectiveness at several professional conferences, and he has also served various community organizations throughout his career.
“I’m excited for Ralph to bring human resource leadership and strategic planning experience to UVA Wise at a time when the College is growing enrollment and programs,” says UVA Wise Chancellor Donna P. Henry. “I look forward to working with Ralph as we continue to advance our institutional goals.”
