2020-2021 Housing Applications
Students, both new and returning, will utilize the UVA Wise Housing Portal to apply for housing and select their room and roommate for the 2020-21 academic year. Housing & Residence Life reserves the right to change any housing assignment or selection.
Guide to Campus Living
The Guide to Campus Living is a residence life handbook that includes important housing policies, procedures, and general information. Students are also encouraged to consult the College Catalog and the Student Code of Conduct for additional information regarding academic policies and regulations and student conduct expectations. This guide is a supplement to the binding housing agreement, which a student signs and agrees to when applying for campus housing.
2020-2021 Housing Contract Text
The 2020-2021 Housing Contract Text is a copy of the housing contract as presented in StarRez, the College’s housing information system. Please note that this is just a copy of the text. To apply for campus housing, students should log in to the housing portal.

First-Year Residency Exemption
Any first-year student who is not a permanent resident of Wise County or the City of Norton wishing to be exempted from the residency requirement must submit the Residency Exemption Form, along with a completed Application for Campus Housing through the housing portal. Exemption requests are reviewed by the Housing Appeals Committee and a recommendation is made to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for a final decision. Students are notified in writing of the decision, usually through email.
Need help finding extra-long bedding to fit the mattresses in our halls? We can help! The Residence Hall Association has partnered with Residence Hall Linens for several years to provide our students and families with a convenient, affordable way to ensure you have sheets that will fit all of the beds on campus. Proceeds from this program are used for programming in the residence halls. There’s free shipping for all Value Pak orders, more than 40 color combinations available, and linens are delivered to your home during the summer for extra convenience.
Loft Kit Rental Form
A loft allows the residence hall bed to be raised to maximize space in your room. By lofting the bed, students are able to use the space below for the desk and dresser, thereby increasing living space.
Request to Stay Over Break Form
Any residential student who, due to special circumstances, desires to stay in his/her assigned residence hall space during break periods must submit the Request to Stay Over Break Form. All requests are considered by the Director of Residence Life. A pro-rated, per night charge will be assessed to the student account if not for official College business. Note also that students are responsible for all meals during break periods.
