Two recent graduates of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise were commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army after completing four years of training in the Army ROTC program.

On Sunday, May 9, 2021, members of the Class of 2020 were honored in a Commencement ceremony that took place at 1 p.m. at Carl Smith Stadium.

On Saturday, May 8, 2021, the members of the Class of 2021 graduated in a historic Commencement ceremony, the first of the College’s since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Starfire Cherrix first arrived on campus as a high school student. He was accepted to the Governor’s School at UVA Wise because of his keen interest in theatre.

Alan Levine, executive chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Ballad Health, will deliver the Commencement Address to the UVA Wise Class of 2021 at Commencement 2021 ceremonies on May 8 at 11 a.m. in Carl Smith Stadium in Wise.
